The carved portion (white) of each carving is coated with a clear acrylic sealer. The sealer helps repel dust and does not yellow with age.
The brown on the antler is actually pitch from trees and willows. The pitch works as a natural sealer, even the Native Americans used it to seal clothing and other items. Since the pitch is a wood product, the brown of the antler has been treated with a clear Danish oil finish.
The wood bases have also been treated with Danish oil finishes.
Care of your antler carving will simply require a periodical light dusting with an upholstery brush on the end of a vacuum. The brown of the antler and the wood can be re-oiled when you do your furniture. With just a little care, your antler carving will last forever.
